Today is my parents 53rd wedding anniversary. I wanted to share some photos of past celebrations the Danish way. I see the love in their eyes when they look in each other eyes. Okay, so it is not always perfect. I do hear some passionate "discussions". but they always talk it out and never go to bed angry. My parents are not as young as they once were, but they are the youngest 70+ year olds that I know.
My mom has been in the hospital for the last two weeks, because she broke her leg in two places and needed surgery. My dad has been visiting her every day. Giving her flowers from the garden, salami sandwiches, cookies, KFC, chocolate, licorice. He once gave her a small bag of licorice and large bag of prunes, she was not to happy about the prunes, and wanted a larger bag of licorice. My mom is the master of making Danish Rye bread, and my dad decided he would make it. He did not lock the Kitchen aide in place and the ingredients flew all over the kitchen. They find joy and laughter in the simple things in life. When you can laugh in the face of difficult times, then it makes life that much better. Each day it is always getting better and better.
I wrote this in my blog, because I love my parents, and have so much respect for them. Happy Wedding Anniversary to you both.
Love from your daughter, Sussanne Hoiberg
