As an artist and a woman, there have been major shifts in life and my artwork. It is expressed in my emotions and through my artwork. I have been asking questions, filling in the missing pieces in my past, present & future life. It has not been easy. I feel as though I have been going through every emotion possible, everything from extreme love for my family and friends..... and intense anger. Anger is an emotion I am learning to express. I was in a state of extreme sadness, depression which turned into anger. I did not know how to process or deal with it.
I am so grateful for my Danish Viking and ancestral roots. I called on my rune stones & Viking Ancestors (Gods) for answers, guidance and direction. I looked to the Runes and to a professional therapist to work through everything. Is this a part of "growing up" or perhaps gaining more clarity.
It is because of this transition and clarity in my life and the reason for my intense need to create and paint the complete Elder Futhark series. There are 24 in this series. I paint them as I see images in nature, through meditation or when I cast a rune stone.
Teiwaz is a Rune Symbol which I saw when I looked outside my window at the beautiful trees I am surrounded by. When I looked outside I realized that the image I saw in the trees, & rock formations means something!!! I am literally compelled and being directed to paint this symbol which looks like an arrow. Is this a message for myself... or message I need to share with the world?
Teiwaz was the first rune I painted in the series, it means Sky God Tyr, a warrior rune. Referring to truth, justice spiritual core, sacrifice for others. The Rune of balance and justice ruled from a higher rationality. It means honour & righteousness. It is symbolizes the positive forces ordering of the cosmos, and humankind through law and justice. Chaos comes to order. It is time to call on your ability to lead and serve as a hand of authority. It is time to act with personal honour and make out decisions in the interest of a just resolution.
As the skyGod Tyr did sacrifice, our honour will sometimes call upon us to make a sacrifice of ourselves so that justice and honour may be service.
I was quite a breakthrough for me, to paint this rune, because I knew deep within myself, that I am a warrior and leader. Through truth, honour and spiritual justice all will be revealed.
